City Hunter

One of the best Korean dramas. Seriously.
Korean dramas tend to be fairly... hmm... superficial. And high on melodrama. And show women as poor little helpless girls who need to be led by the hand. Apparently it's romantic to be dragged away without your consent. And oh yes I shan't forget the loooooong frozen kiss peck scenes.

When I read the synopsis for this drama my interest was instantly piqued: basically, vigilante hero with daddy issues and badass chick Blue House bodyguard, interspersed with playful mischievousness and storytelling that will blow your mind away. Watched episode 1. Loved it. Came back for more. And more. And more. I swear, I hadn't been so diligently awaiting new episodes since Gossip Girl's early days. The finale was... wow. Bittersweet. Satisfying. Tense. Shattering. Breathtaking. Dark.

Fucking brilliant. Pardon my swearing.

They could give me us a season 2. Generally when I finish a Korean drama I'm like "meh gimme something else, it was good but not that good".

No, man, this one knocked me off my feet.

I won't give away spoilers but the writers went there. That's all I will say. It shocked the heck out of me. Turned me inside out. And then...

And then... which one of them dies?
This series was the perfect combination of action and heart. Badass enough to make your heart pump, romantic enough to keep the show human and fragile.

I was also quite partial to this show because of the few judo scenes interspersed here and there ;)
